Other Modalities of Therapy Available at the Chichester CBT Clinic
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
Christine Tizzard Psychological Consultants are also able to provide outpatient group Dialectical Behavioural Therapy for the management of specific enduring mental health difficulties. This is a highly skilled and intensive treatment intervention.
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), which was developed by Marsha Lineman, PhD, at the University of Washington, is a type of psychotherapy for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and other closely associated conditions.
DBT is a cognitive behavioural therapy, meaning it is a therapy that focuses on the role of cognition (e.g., thoughts and beliefs) and behaviours (e.g., actions) in the development and the treatment of borderline personality disorder (BPD). DBT includes some changes to the traditional cognitive behavioural elements of therapy in order to help specifically reduce the symptoms of BPD.
Family Therapy
Family therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves all the members of a nuclear or extended family. Although some types of family therapy are based on behavioural or psychodynamic principles, the most widespread form is based on family systems theory, an approach that regards the entire family as the unit of treatment, and emphasizes such factors as relationships and communication patterns rather than traits or symptoms in individual members. The clinic is very fortunate to have a highly skilled UKCP systems therapist in the team who is able to work with families in both the clinic and their home.
Anger Management (Calm Programme)
This programme is held in the Guildford, Tonbridge Wells and Chichester Clinics and is a revolving ten session group programme. This programme is also very suitable for Local Authority referrals where the Court has ordered an intensive anger management programme is attended. Please call the clinic for more information on this group.
CBT Weight Reduction Group
This is a group that follows the Beck Diet Solution weight loss plan which is a cognitive behavioural approach to weight loss. It is a six week course which provides individuals who are motivated with the tools to successfully lose weight.
The plan works through the individual learning to change their thoughts and habits regarding food rather than a strict restriction regime. Places within these groups are limited. More information may be found at www.beckinstitute.org
Please telephone the clinic for further details.
